Type the following command: taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F. This will forcibly close Explorer and prevent it from saving the new icon layout to the Registry. Once the Desktop disappears, type explorer at the opened command prompt and press Enter. This will start the Explorer shell again. You may also go to Device Manager and update the Display Adapter. Open RUN then type in devmgmt.msc then click Ok. Expand the Display Adapter then right click on the driver and select Update Driver. Once that's done, reboot your computer and see if that works. I got a notification on my Dell windows 10 PC. It said my F drive was almost full. When I checked it showed an option to compress the file to create more space. I checked the box and then tried to restart my computer. Now it only displays the logo. Windows will not start and taping F2 or F12 at start does nothing as well.
